A sub-collection of Mission, our best-selling Highlands Collection preserves traditional Mission lines and style while appearing distinctly modern, thanks to the influence of Scottish Arts and Crafts. Highlands is handcrafted in upstate New York of sustainably sourced solid cherry or quartersawn white oak.

Named for the magical Scottish isle, our Skye Upholstered Dining Chairs share the Highlands’ Collection’s roots. An elegant back splat borrows its pierced details from the Charles Rennie Mackintosh–inspired Highlands Trestle Table, while the smooth upholstered seat and back offer comfort and clean style.
Highlands design details are a nod to a Scottish variant of the Arts and Crafts movement. Artists of the Glasgow School—most notably the architect and designer Charles Rennie Mackintosh—embraced a more decorative, modernist style, echoed here in exaggerated chair backs, laser etching, and pierced end slats.

Highlands is available in two woods, each with its own hand-rubbed finish options. Choose quartersawn white oak for a deeply grained, dimensional appearance, or cherry for a subtler grain, rich in patina.
Mission oak and cherry finishes have a unique clarity seldom seen in furniture today, ensuring that every detail of the wood grain is not only visible but beautifully enhanced.
